Netscape is the name of a web browser and also the company which produced it (now a sub division of AOL Time Warner).
Once almost universally considered the web browser of choice, Netscape - which was the first commercially available graphical web browser - has all but disappeared form the market place, though its legacy lives on today in the form of Mozilla project.
